Axioms of Affine Buildings

چکیده
We prove equivalence of certain axiom sets for a ne buildings. Along the lines a purely combinatorial proof of the existence of a spherical building at in nity is given. As a corollary we obtain that being an a ne building is independent of the metric structure of the space.

A reduction of axioms
Jacques Tits introduced the notion of a building as a geometry associated to groups of Lie type in [T1], providing new geometries associated to the exceptional groups of Lie type. In 1972, F. Bruhat and Tits [BT] developed a theory of affine buildings for the purpose of studying groups over fields having a discrete valuation, although their work applied more generally to groups over fields havi...
متن کاملGeneralized polygons with non-discrete valuation defined by two-dimensional affine R-buildings
In this paper, we show that the building at infinity of a two-dimensional affine Rbuilding is a generalized polygon endowed with a valuation satisfying some specific axioms. Specializing to the discrete case of affine buildings, this solves part of a long standing conjecture about affine buildings of type G̃2, and it reproves the results obtained mainly by the second author for types Ã2 and C̃2. ...
متن کاملAffine twin R-buildings
In this paper, we define twinnings for affine R-buildings. We thus extend the theory of simplicial twin buildings of affine type to the non-simplicial case. We show how classical results can be extended to the non-discrete case, and, as an application, we prove that the buildings at infinity of aMoufang twin R-building have the induced structure of aMoufang building. The latter is not true for ...

We construct rank 2 thick nondiscrete affine buildings associated with an arbitrary finite dihedral group.
متن کاملDescent of affine buildings - I. Large minimal angles
In this two-part paper we prove an existence result for affine buildings arising from exceptional algebraic reductive groups. Combined with earlier results on classical groups, this gives a complete and positive answer to the conjecture concerning the existence of affine buildings arising from such groups defined over a (skew) field with a complete valuation, as proposed by Jacques Tits. This f...
